I call this view of the bog Purdy’s Bog because Dave Purdy lives in the yellow house at the head of the path that leads down to the dam and on down to the point. The earthen dam that is there now was put there by the Army Corps of Engineers . The best thing about it is that it is covered with wild thyme, which is not native but has taken hold here .The earthen dam replaced the beautiful rock and granite block  dam at B. B. Cook’s sawmill. You can just see where it stood about ten feet down Carlton Stream.
