Troy Residents – Do you Need Food?
These are unusual times. Covid-19 has forced many businesses to close and left many people without a job and without a pay check. Seniors and people with disabilities and compromised immune systems are asked to say in. “Social Distancing” is the norm for everyone– stay at least 6 feet from another person to avoid spreading the virus. As paychecks vanish and more people are self-quarantining, need is growing. There are local resources that can help, no questions asked.
Our local Food Pantryhas emergency food boxes available to anyone running short of food. The pantry is also open the third Saturday of every month from 6:00 to 7:30 a.m. It is located on Depot Street in Unity (old Unity fire station), serving 6 area towns. They provide a large box of food monthly. It is a drive-through.
The OPEN DOORprovides a hot meal every Thursday, open at the Unity Community Center from 11:00 a.m. until done. Due to the coronavirus pandemic the dining room is closed and it is also a drive-through for now.
If you need food and are unable to get to either of these resources to pick up food, please call either Richard Moore, 948-6232 or Joyce Benson, 948-5724. If you leave a message please be sure to clearly state your name, phone number and your location so we can make arrangements to get to you. We can get meals to you on Thursdays from the OPEN DOOR or emergency food boxes from the Food Pantry at other times during the month.
