Kathryn G. Hillman
Morning Sentinel obit.
She was born in Benton, on June 9, 1910, to Charles and Ester (Ware) Colwell. She was predeceased by her husband George Hillman and three sons; Richard, Rafford, and Clayton all of Troy, and Missy her cat and companion whom she loved very much.
Kathryn drove the Star Route mail from Unity to Troy for 20 years making many friends along the way. She was an active member of the Troy Ladies Auxiliary and Senior Citizens. Kate”,as all her friends knew her, worked extremely hard her entire life. At age 96 she was still working hard to make sure the veterans of the area had a memorial monument. That dream came true for her on May 27, 2006, when the monument was unveiled next to the Troy Town Office.
Kate loved to pick berries and dandelion greens, fry donuts for her family and friends, and crochet blankets and mittens for her grandchildren whom she loved very much. She also held dear to her heart her special friends; June Fowler, Flo Jewett, Barbara Piper and Jan Cropley all of Troy.
Kate will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends. She was loved very much by all who knew her. At Kathryn’s request there will be no funeral services. She will be laid to rest beside her husband George at the Rodgers Cemetery in Troy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the: Troy Volunteer Fire Department, 129 Rodgers Road, Troy, Maine 04987. The family of Kate Hillman would like to send a special Thank You to the doctors and nurses of Inland Hospital.
