The Hometown News is a Town of Troy website that we hope you will come to use like a virtual town hub, a central place to find out about all things local. When is the town office is open? What’s on the menu at the Farmers Corner Restaurant? When is the corn in at Fernald’s or Heald’s? Who has beans or jams? How do I get fuel assistance? What is that awful smell? What do the selectmen do?

We want it to be dynamic, informative, factual, inclusive, and up to date.  We want it to be practical, useful, and fun.

We are here to publish your town news.We want you to tell us what you want to know. We want you to correct our mistakes. We will ask you to document what you say.

Join us. We need people to write stories, collect information, and conduct interviews. We need pictures from the past and present. We need help setting up our advertising pages.

We will moderate comments and discussions. We ask everyone to be polite  and considerate. Thanks.

  1. From the selectmen to the citizens of Troy: We are trying to pass on important news to the town, as of February 1st, 2012, our trash will be picked up and delivered to PERC by Bolster’s Rubbish Removal of Burnham. In an effort to lower the town’s expenses due to the downturn in revenue sources, our negotiations with Sullivan’s Waste Disposal reached an impass. The new contractor has been instructed to not pick up trash that does not have a trash sticker on the bag(s), so if your trash was not picked up on February 1st, it was due to the lack of stickers. We are currently looking at the feasability of changing the office hours, basically trading Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s hours, to allow residents to obtain trash stickers the day before the pickup. We would appreciate feedback on this idea, if it is positive, we will continue on that path with an advance notice of when the change will take effect. Please contact the town office at 948-2283 if you have any questions or comments, or you can call me at home, I will try to return all calls. Thank you, Brian Piper

  2. Would it be possible for the Town Office to put out a list of what is recycleable and how it must be recycled? There may already be one at the Town Office, but it would be great to have it on this new website. Thank you for your time.

    • Hey, Sorry to be so slow. It’s only me. The recycling info is posted on the website under Organizations and Services:Recycling. Also under Government: Trash and Recycyling

  3. I think what we need here is some means to contact the TMLN. The WordPress site doesn’t seem to have a link to click to contact the editor or to submit a story! Not to complain, but I looked everywhere and finally found this place where I can add a comment. You might want to have something on the home page so people can submit an email or story. Just a suggestion.
